As we explained in a previous article on the new Opel Movano, the Opel utility family tree is not easy to establish. The new Opel Movano is still a Renault Master while the Opel Vivaro, which until then was a Renault Trafic, is now a pure PSA product ... Which means that the Opel Vivaro, although newborn, is already a safe bet. Normal: it is the clone of Peugeot Expert and Citroën Jumpy, two vehicles of great qualities, perhaps even the best in this market today. By this filiation, the Vivaro is from the outset an excellent vehicle, as also the Toyota ProAce also derived from PSA vans. Opel Vivaro is not a surprise. He takes back all his brothers. Motorizations, capacities, equipment, bodywork and behavior are common. Only distinction, the upper part of the front that sports the Opel codes, the set finally proving closer to the Peugeot than the Citroen.
Up to 6 m³ of useful volume
The Opel Vivaro is available in three lengths, L1, L2 and L3. This is a plus, since the old derivative version of the Renault Trafic was only offered on two lengths. The most compact appears at 4.60 meters long. Built on a wheelbase of 2.92 m, it offers a turning circle between sidewalks of 11.3 meters. The maximum useful length on the ground is 2.16 meters. It can go up to 3.32 meters with the Flex Cargo system, which is actually a hatch under the passenger seat. Similarly, the useful volume of 4.6 m³ increases to 5.1 m³ with this system which is always an option. The other two versions are made on a wheelbase of 3.27 m. The L2 has a total length of 4.95 m and the L3 of 5.30 meters. The useful length on the first is 2.51 m as standard and 3.67 m with the Flex Cargo option. These values are 2.86 m and 4.02 m for L3. The usable volumes are 5.3 m³ for L2 and 6.1 m³ for L3. Data that earns 0.5 m³ with the Flex Cargo. The turning radius of the L2 and L3 is 12.4 meters, which is a little more than one meter higher than the L1. The payloads of the Vivaro van range from 950 kg to nearly 1.5 tonnes.
The Opel Vivaro is multiple and can be done in-depth cabin, Combi or floor-cabin. Around passenger transport, Opel offers three solutions. The first is the deep Vivaro Cabin fixed. This Vivaro has two rows of seats and can accommodate up to six people. The Vivaro foldable deep cabin is a little more flexible. In fact, the standard grid behind the second row of seats can be folded, which allows to adapt the utility capabilities of the vehicle. Finally, the latest Opel offer in this area, the Vivaro Combi allows to carry up to nine people. This variant is closer to the minibus than the real utility. Finally, the floor-cab version is the transformable model par excellence. It can be equipped with a bucket or a refrigerated box and can even become a tow truck.
